Download the .dmg from the Downloads page. Open it, drag Vault into Applications, then double-click to launch. On first open macOS may block it — right-click → Open to bypass Gatekeeper. This is only needed once since Vault is currently distributed outside the Mac App Store.
No. Your database lives in ~/Library/Application Support/Vault/, completely separate from the app bundle. Updating Vault only replaces the app — all your tracks, playlists, pitches, custom genres, moods and metadata are untouched. Vault also runs automatic database migrations on startup to handle any schema changes.
No. Vault references your audio files wherever they live on your drive — it never moves, copies or modifies them. The only exception is Export to Folder, which copies selected files to a destination you choose.
Vault analyses audio locally — no files leave your machine. BPM is detected via peak onset analysis and musical key via chromagram. You can trigger analysis per-track or hit Analyse All to process your whole library in the background while you keep browsing.
A Pitch Deck is a curated selection of tracks you build for a specific client, sync placement or session. Set genre, BPM and mood filters and Vault surfaces recommendations from your library. Add what you want, then export the whole deck to a folder with one click — ready to send.
Yes. A single license covers up to 2 machines. If you need to transfer to a new machine or need more activations, email us and we'll sort it out promptly.
Open Vault → click the gear icon (Settings) → License tab → paste your key and click Activate. The app will contact the CircuitTheory license server to validate and bind your key to this machine. An internet connection is required for first activation only.
Email support@circuittheory.com with a description of the problem and your macOS version. Screenshots or a screen recording are always helpful. We aim to respond within 48 hours.
Made by Moonkay
Moonkay is a small independent studio building tools for music producers. We make the software we wish existed — practical, focused, and built around the actual creative workflow.
Vault started as a personal tool. Managing hundreds of beats across folders, chasing down that one loop from six months ago, manually labelling everything in spreadsheets — it was a mess. So we built something better.
CircuitTheory is our home for everything we make. Vault is the first product. More are on the way.
If you're a producer who takes their craft seriously, we built this for you.
We build one thing at a time and do it properly. No feature bloat, no subscriptions, no nonsense.
Your music stays on your machine. Nothing is uploaded. Nothing is tracked. Your library is yours.
Built with Electron + SQLite for native-level performance. No web apps pretending to be desktop software.
Real people answer support emails. Features come from producer feedback. We actually listen.
